Authors are a husband-and-wife team. Cong Huyen Ton Nu Nha Trang was born and raised in Vietnam. She later studied in Tokyo and California, and received a Ph. D. From UC Berkeley in 1973. She has taught and published on Vietnamese literature and folklore. William L. Pensinger served in Vietnam during 1967-68.
