Die religiosen Traditionen verlieren an Bedeutung. Im Klima der Indifferenzierung gewinnt die These der Gleichwertigkeit der verschiedenen Religionen an Plausibilitat. Angesichts dieser Entwicklung gewinnt die Frage nach der Wahrheit der Religion neu an Bedeutung. Eine ahnliche Situation war auch im 4. und 5. Jahrhundert gegeben, als Christen- und Heidentum in einem Konkurrenzverhaltnis zueinander standen. Die Auseinandersetzung um den Viktoria-Altar, in die sich die Schrift des Prudentius Contra Symmachum einreiht, gibt hierfur ein eindrucksvolles Zeugnis. An paganen und christlichen Texten der Antike wird diese vergleichbare Konstellation nachgezeichnet und diskutiert. Der vorliegende Band prasentiert das Ergebnis der Tagung 'Monotheismus - Skepsis - Toleranz' anlasslich der Vorstellung des 100. Bandes der Fontes Christiani. Language : German, Latin.
