Handsomely reprinted from the 1876 original edition. Illustrated with B&W wood engravings. Prejevalsky was a Russian officer sent by his government to further Russian interest during the Great Game woth Britain. he made four lengthy expeditions to Central Asia and Tibet between 1870 and 1885. His detailed writings stimulated interest among European explorers that lead to the Golden Age of Central Asian exploration at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth. The two volumes are clean and tight, the red boards with gold embossed titles are clean, square with very slight rubbing. Pictures on request. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hard Cover.
