[15], 3-815, [3] pp. Black cloth with a Chinese character on the front board in brown, gold lettering blocked in brown on the spine; purple topstain. Price of $3.00 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Title page printed in red and black. Set in the period between 1900 to 1938, Yutang's novel explores familial relationships, gender dynamics, and old and new traditions in twentieth-century China. The novel is difficult to find in dust jacket. A contemporary bookseller's ticket on the rear pastedown; jacket has several tape repairs on its reverse and a few chips.

Synopsis

Moment in Peking is a historical novel originally written in English by the Chinese American author Lin Yutang. The novel covers the turbulent events in China from 1900 to 1938, including the Boxer Uprising, the Republican Revolution of 1911, the Warlord Era, the rise of nationalism and communism, and the origins of the Sino-Japanese War of 1937-1945.
