Paris:: Tessari,, c1762-1770.. 16.5 x 20.75 inches. Single leaf.. Original single leaf engraving, a fine impression. Minor edge wear, some dampstains (flash of photo makes it look worse than it is), verso with repair at edge of outer margin, little affect. Illustrates young Russian man holding a sparrow talking to two Russian women, one older and one younger, a water fountain with cherubs atop in background. Suitable for framing. Scarce print, at time of description we locate no copies for sale and only a few citations of reference. Gaillard (ca.1719-1790), French engraver. Le Prince (1734-1781), French painter, star pupil of the great painter Francois Boucher (1703-1770). Le Prince was best known for his graphic portrayal of Russia and its people, he lived in Russia and worked for Catherine the Great. Appeared as released in 1762 by Mercure de France, and a further announcement in Gazette de France in 1770. Beraldi: 225: 26. Fine Arts Museum San Francisco: 1963.30.30341.
