A collection of thirty-three consecutive first editions, published from 1926 to 1932, from The Studio's series on 'Modern Masters of Etchings.' Each volume is introduced and commented by Malcolm C. Salaman, English author, journalist, and critic. Illustrated to every volume with twelve exceptional etchings tipped in representative of the work of each artist, each with its protective tissue guard.This series is dedicated to some of the leading exponents of the etcher's art in the nineteenth- and early twentieth-century. The volumes on J. Pennell, Robert Austin, and L. C. Rosenberg were rebound in a smart full cloth binding with the original title label pasted to the front board and leather title label to the spine, new endpapers. Externally sound with some shelf wear and edge wear, with some general chipping to the head and tail of the spine and some minor loss to the head and tail of the spine to volumes on Whistler II, Brangwyn II, W. Russel Flint, and Lumsden. General minor soiling to the boards. Lacking the title label to the spine of the volumes on Bauer, Brangwyn I, McBey, Griggs, Zorn, Cameron, Short, and Legros. With A Pugh-Thomas' bookplate to the front pastedown of the volume on Frank Brangwyn I, Cameron, Francis Haden, James McBey, Whistler, Griggs, Andres Zorn, Marius Bauer, James McNeill Whistler, Frank Brangwyn II, E. S. Lumsden and William Walcot. Previous ownership inscription to the front pastedown of Nevinson volume, dated 1932. Library bookplate to the front pastedown of the volume on W Russell Flint and Charles Meryon, with library stamps to the title page, its verso, and the first and last leaf of text as well as to each plate. With a minor bookseller sticker to the font pastedown of the volume on Legros. The dust wrapper of the volume on Levon West is price clipped and rather worn, with some shelf wear and chipping, as well as a closed tear to the rear wrap and a minor loss to the front wrap and tail of the spine. Internally, the binding is slightly tender to the occasional volume but generally firm. With some spotting and light foxing to the first and last few leaves only to the occasional volume, otherwise the pages are generally bright and clean. Each volume is illustrated with twelve plates tipped in, each with its protective tissue guard. Collated, complete. Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
