Houghton Mifflin Company. Boston. 1966. Blue cloth boards with imprint of young girl & flowers on front and lettering on spine in black. Small 0.25 in spot on front board and reminder mark on bottom text block. PO signature on front pastedown, assumed PO poem about Babies on flyleaf and bookplate signed by author on half title page. In general, a very good First Edition (stated). Unclipped ($3.25) jacket shows general shelf wear with age-related fading of colors, chipping to edges, 2 areas on spine showing small loss of paper and a 2 in. crease without paper loss on front of jacket now protected with removable mylar cover. Jane Flory (1917-2005) wrote over 30 childrens books with "Mist" being the second in the Amanda Scoville series. "It had been a year now since Pa had died of the fever and, as the eight Scoville girls, their mother, and Mr. Aaron the peddler sat before the Christmas fire, they could look back on that year with a satisfaction-and joyfulness-that they would not have thougth possible just twelve months earlier" (jacket flap).
