Lincoln, Nebraska: Nebraska State Historical Society, 1972. Book. Good. Hardcover. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Good/Good. 312 pages. Three quarter Olive green cloth binding with one quarter pale green paper binding around the spine. Gilt text on spine. Lower corners of binding are bent slightly. Boards show no other shelf wear. Pictorial dust jacket shows very minor scuffing; no chips or tears. Black and white text on upper dust jacket and spine. The front and back paste downs and fep. show maps of the overland trails used by freighters as described in the text. The book is Volume 26 in the Nebraska State Historical Society Publications.The book concentrates on freighting through the Platte Valley during the years 1848-1869 and describes the trails, animals and wagons, freighters, and the expansion of many cities because of these operations. For the time period the amounts of money involved were amazing..
