About This Item

1842 1ed Moffat Missionary Labors in South AFRICA Missionary Voyages Illustrated

Robert Moffat was a 19th-century Scottish missionary to Africa who is known for being the first to translate the Bible into the Setswana language. While on furlough in Britain, he wrote and published his book 'Missionary Labours and Scenes in South Africa' – a detailed account of his experiences living in southern Africa among the Bechaunas.

According to Mendelssohn.

"The volume gives a valuable account of mission work among the Bechuanas, with notes on the customs of the natives, and a description of the earlier travels of the author."
