Simon and Schuster, 1941. Hardcover. Good+/Good. Signed. 10th printing. Inscribed (It appears to read, "To Merrick's Lovely Mother. With cordial Christmas greetings, From"), SIGNED, and dated ("1944") by Joseph E. Davies on the front endpaper. The volume is edge rubbed and the spine gilt is rubbed and spot faded. The text leaves are lightly toned, there is a small ownership stamp ("Please Return to the Shelves of _ _") on the front pastedown underneath the flap, and the gutters are darkened. The sleeve protected, unclipped, dust jacket has shallow chips on the corners and base of the front panel, a larger chip (3/4" x 1/2") on the spine crown and front joint, edge wrinkling and a closed tear, and the spine is mildly toned.
