Edinburgh and London: Printed for Cadell and Co., and Longman, Rees, Orme and Green, 1827. Three volumes of six. Volumes 1, 2 and 3. All three volumes bound in half leather, spines and corners, with raised bands, gilt rulled compartments with title and volume numbers in gilt. Gilt ruled edges to leather borders. Marbled papered boards, page edges and endpapers. Volume one : Life of Dryden, xv, 533 pages. Volume two : Life of Swift, iii, 532 pages. Volume three : Biographical memoirs and critical notices of eminent novellists, Richardson, Smollett, Goldsmith, Johnson, Sterne etc. 553 pages. 5.75 X 8.75 inches. All three volumes ar ein very good condition. Externally all very sound, with minor rubbing to edges here and there. Overall not much worn, Inside all hinges are firm and sound, with no spltting along the endpapers. Inside all complete and in good order, with some foxing appearing occasionally, mainly to the first and last pages. Armorial bookplate (foxed) of Augustus Warren to each pastedown. A pleasing set.. First Edition. Half Leather. Very Good/No Jacket.
