The dust jacket has some edge wear and several edge tears. 254 pages with References, Index of Scriptural References, Index of Names and Titles, and Index of Topics. Laid in are handwritten notes (one dated 1944) by Pastor Herman T. Morgan on letterhead from the First Methodist Church in Atlanta, Texas. One sheet contains references to war and lines from In Flanders Fields, by John McCrae and Hail!-And Farewell! by John Oxenham. Two sheets contain notes apparently for sermons and the fourth sheet contains a typewritten invitation on one side to an unnamed recipient to join the Methodist Church. The reverse side contains pencil notes apparently for another sermon. Rev. Morgan also signed his name on the front free endpaper. Rev. Morgan (1894-1979) also ministered in Orange, Texas and Houston, Texas. While in Houston, where he lived the remainder of his years, he was Director, Methodist Homes for Older People and worked with the Texas Methodist Conference to establish a home for the aged in Galveston, which received a donation from the Moody Foundation consisting of the Buccaneer Hotel ($1,250,000) and $350,000 in cash in 1962..
