First edition, so stated on the verso of the title page. The book itself is in very good, nice condition. The dust jacket has some small tears and chipping but in good, solid shape. This, the first edition of one of the great books in American historiography is very difficult to find in the first edition. It is still being reprinted all these years later. Sadly, the author committed suicide the year the book came out. $100.00
