London: W. Kent & Co Late David Bogue, 1111. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. A. L. Bond. Not dated, but circa 1860 (date with previous owner is 1863). In tan, bevelled-edged cloth boards, with elaborate gilt decoration on front (same design blind stamped on back cover). Good, clean, tight covers, but edge-worn, and corners frayed. Spine tight, with gilt titles and decoration in style of front covers. The "Clevedon Community Bookshop Co-operative Bindery Team" have replaced mull, glued in new book cloth on spine, with original refaced on top. The "Bindery Team" have also replaced the endpapers. Text block foxed and slightly tanned throughout. Name of previous owner and date on page facing title page. With beautiful steel engraved illustrations throughout by A. L. Bond, including floral borders, frontispiece and title page. Not paginated.

Woodward. Near fine in beveled brown boards with dark brown and gilt lettering and decorations, all page edges gilt. Just slight wear to the brown cloth, tight and clean internally. Gilt illustration on front board is very bright.

In contemporary blue cloth with decorative gilt floral tooling, beveled edges, corners and edges very lightly bumped and worn. Spine, decorative gilt tooling and titles, edges bumped, lower cover embossed. Internally, cream endpapers, portrait frontis, not paginated, 18 plates (including the portrait frontis), 19 leaves all with wonderful engravings by Bond, small binders label to epd (Burn), all edges in gilt, not dated but via WorldCat 1867, minimal browning.
