Library bound in publisher's red pictorial cloth, title/author to both spine and front board, front photo, early 1900s No. 5 Engine run on Cedar Ave, rear photo shows 1969 King Midas Elevator fire. Front endpaper b&w photo of General Mills fire on Hiawatha Ave, 1948; rear endpaper shows Belco Elevators fire, 1977. 240 numbered pp. Intro; each chapter accompanied by a map showing extent of Minneapolis and location of stations/companies during that period, e.g., 1879-1884, 1885-1890, and so on up to 1962-79; appendices (Roll of Honor/lost in the line of duty; traditions; company histories; apparatus rosters and assignments; MFD personnel names/photos in 1980; afterword/acknowledgements. Condition notes: very nice, solid copy with a sprinkle of foxing to top edge and slight sunning to tail of front board. As noted, limited edition copy signed by author; else unmarked. A finely constructed and illus history of the MFD to 1979. We personally inspect every book we offer.

Furrowed Brow Books was established in 2020. The bookstore's owner, Paul Purman, grew up in an old farmhouse full of books. Paul had been providing online booksales since 2008 through several popular online sales venues. In 2021 Paul was accepted as a member of the Independent Online Booksellers' Association (IOBA), and graduated from the annual Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar (CABS-Minnesota).

Furrowed Brow Books' goal is to offer an eclectic selection, while providing specialty offerings in Eastern Orthodoxy and Byzantine civilization, theology, Christian mysticism, science fiction/fantasy (Inklings emphasis), and military history.
