The Air War in Europe as Told by the Men Who Fought It. On the half-title p. is tipped-in a signed photo card of ace Don Blakeslee of the 4th Fighter Group. On the dedication p. are 2 cards (1 of which is signed) tipped-in from Truman Smith. Smith completed 35 bombing runs in a B-17 before he even turned 21 years of age. There is some bleed thru from both of these autographs. O/W the hard cover book & d/w are both in v.g. cond.

Synopsis

Gerald Astor is a World War II veteran and award-winning journalist and historian whose articles have appeared in The New York Times, Playboy, and Esquire. He is also the author of A Blood-Dimmed Tide: The Battle of the Bulge by the Men Who Fought It and Operation Iceberg: The Invasion and Conquest of Okinawa in World War II . He makes his home in Scarsdale, New York.
