About This Item

Westminster, Maryland, U.S.A.: Random House Inc, 1994. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. A suspenseful tale of a shooting death and its aftermath set in Savannah, Georgia, a hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks. This copy has been SIGNED by the author on the front free endpaper and includes a leaflet for a special edition cookie tin. The number line runs "198765432," but this is a later printing, as the true first printing states "first edition" beneath a number line running "24689753." This is a clean, crisp copy with no writing, marks, underlining, or bookplates. No remainder marks. Not an ex-library copy. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. The book itself would be graded much higher, as it is near perfect condition save for a tear along the gutter of the rear pastedown endpaper. Dust jacket is not price-clipped and is in beautiful shape with virtually no wear. The front cover of the dust jacket bears a gold sticker reading "Autographed Copy." This collectible, very good+ / fine copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. Satisfaction guaranteed!

This book has everything one wants in a good read: A mystery, a terrific and unique geographical place, amazing and eccentric characters and a very well written story told by an excellent narrator and observer. Plus it is based on real events which if this were fiction--would seem unbelievable. The movie is a pale echo so do read the book and only see the movie for Lady Chablis's appearance.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a sublime and seductive reading experience. Brilliantly conceived and masterfully written, this enormously engaging portrait of a most beguiling Southern city has become a modern classic.
