A very good, clean, tight firm copy of this first edition. Original publisher's brown cloth gilt embossed to the spine and to the front board. The text supported by numerous steel engravings and and 7 maps - as called for. Very neat original owner's ink name, address and date to the head of the dedication page : 'H.T.Manton, Quarry House, Northfield 1876' and also in pencil to the head of the title page. A later owner's name in ink to the head of the front endpaper - name and date. One corner of the front board bumped - quite notably. Head and tail of spine a little rubbed with a fairly closed nik in the cloth at the head of the spine. Some rubbing to the tails of the boards with slight loss of the cloth. One semi-circular light drink ring stain to the front board. Scattered light or slight foxing. A very good, well preserved copy in original publisher's cloth of a charming railway book.
