This portfolio is concerned with the painter as a trained workman. The old masters were trained to the standards of their craft. When they had mastered their craft, they put their skills to the service of their patrons, without feeling any loss of creative integrity. Modern painters often do the opposite, they paint what they want and hope someone will like their work enough to buy. This portfolio views the application of the painter's craft as an expression of his art. . A very clean and crisp, collectible copy. Each of the 12 loose prints is in perfect (as new) condition. The original glassine wrapper is worn. FINE/GOOD. . Metropolitan Seminars in Art: Great Periods in Painting Series. Vol. 9. Color Illustrations. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. 26, (6) pp .
