Grosset and Dunlap edition (issued using original Farrar & Rinehart plates) in attractive illustrated jacket. Clean gray cloth boards with red lettering on cover and spine. No fraying or wear. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean endpapers; no names, writing or marks. "Copyright 1937" with publisher's FR device printed on copyright page, but this is a re-issue by Grosset & Dunlap. 436 pages. Clean illustrated jacket has shallow edge chipping at top and bottom spine edges, slight fading to spine, small chip (size of very small bean) at rear panel. A few additional small edge rubs. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Aboard the Bakong Ayer as she is clearing from Shanghai for England, Dr. Scarlett finds himself in charge, medically at least, of a group of people whose passions and emotions are as full of potential lightning as a thunderhead..
