Henry D. Thoreau. First edition. Dust Jacket: Very Good. An unclipped jacket (no price) in mylar protective wrapper. Has foxing and tape marks on it. Hardcover: Very Good+ Boston: Houghton, Mifflin Company, 1936. Printed by Riverside Press, Cambridge, MA. Green cloth with black on cover and spine with silver lettering. Some markings on inside cover and the word catologue on rear cover, otherwise, no writing or markings in the book, 255 pp. With N.C. Wyeth illustrations, including 10 color plates; 24 pen-and-ink drawings attributed to N.C. Wyeth (but actually done by his teenage son, Andrew Wyeth under his father's supervision). This was the first time father and son collaborated for publication.

Francis Allen, author of the Thoreau bibliography, and co-editor of the Walden Edition of the Complete Works, has selected a number of intimate portraits and N. C. Wyeth, for many years a student and admirer of Thoreau, has created a series of illustrative paintings to accompany them.
