Hutchinson, London, 1957. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/Poor Condition. Illustrator: Joan Ashley-Brown. 600 g; 260pp., foreword by author and index. Black-and-white photographic frontispiece of author. At the beginning of each chapter is a small thumnail sketch by Joan Ashley-Brown. Red coloured boards with gilt writing on the spine. Bumping of Lee tail of the spine, discolouration and foxing of the top edge of the text block, and severe rubbing of the top external corner of the front board, exposing the cardboard underneath. Offset tanning of front and rear free end pages, the dustjacket is missing the bottom left-hand corner of the front panel, the bottom 3 inches of the spine section and part of the bottom right-hand corner of the rear panel, with an extensive tear across the bottom of the rear panel. Now protected. The memoirs of the author to started his ministry in outback Australia then went on to serve as a chaplain in World War I, the Indian Raj and the blitz in London in World War 2 before heading for Australia again via Gibraltar.
