Contemporary half calf, spine gilt with beige label, marbled boards and yellow edges. From the library of L. F. Rääf at Forsnäs, with its book plate. Later edition, the first was published in 1759. Edward Wortley Montague (1713-76) was an author and traveller, and son to the famous Lady Mary Wortley Montague. A Swedish translation, “Betraktelser öfwer fordna fria samhällens upkomst och fall, lämpade til Engelands närwarande tilstånd”, was published in 1769 .
