Lightly rubbed on the corners with a flat uncreased spine; no interior markings. Cover art by Axelle Fortier. In her Author's Note, Ms el-Saadawi wrote, "Memoirs first appeared in serialized form in the Egyptian magazine Rus al-Yusuf in 1957. It had a great impact in Egypt and in the Arab world." She went on to explain that much of the story was censored and deleted from the early printings. This edition restores as much of the original as possible. The author called this a simple, spontaneous novel in which there is a lot of anger against the oppression of women in her country....
