With a portrait frontispiece and a folding facsimile of a page of the original manuscript of Ivanhoe. Collated complete. A biography of Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish historian, novelist, poet, and playwright whose works remain classics of European, and particularly Scottish, literature. He is best known for the novels Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, and Old Mortality. Written by John Gibson Lockhart, a Scottish writer and editor who was appointed Sir Walter Scott's literary executor at the point of his passing. Bound in half red calf with patterned boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine and marks to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Age toning to the first and last few pages. Very Good
