Two volumes bound into one of Thomas Moore's interesting biography on the Irish poet and playwright Richard Sheridan. Complete as two volumes bound into one. Richard Sheridan was a satirist and poet, as well as being the owner of the famous London Theatre Royal in Drury Lane. Sheridan was also a Whig MP for thirty-two years, being an ally of Charles James Fox, who was allegedy a lover of Georgiana the Duchess of Devonshire. Sheridan wrote the plays 'The Rivals', 'The School for Scandal', and 'The Duenna'. Written by Thomas Moore. Moore was a fellow Irish poet who had met Sheridan on many occasions. He is best known for his poems 'The Minstrel Boy' and 'The Last Rose of Summer' as well as for being the literary executor for Lord Byron, thus burning Byron's memoirs after his death. With a frontispiece to the first volume, and a folding plate to the front of the first volume. In the original full calf binding. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the boards, joints, and to the raised bands, with further minor rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light marking to the boards and to the spine. Hinges strained. Bookplate to the front pastedown 'Nec Temere. Nec Timide'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots and handling marks, mostly to the first and last few pages.
