London: Rudolph Ackermann, 1835. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. First Edition. [vi], 110 pp. with 12 hand-colored aquatint plates. Finely bound by Riviere for Bumpus, in full scarlet crushed morocco, triple gilt-rule borders, spine gilt, raised bands, all edges gilt. Original front, rear, and spine cloth bound in at rear. Housed in a later morocco-tipped and backed marbled paper chemise and board slipcase. Front board expertly reattached and hinge repaired, else Near Fine with light rubbing to joints, bookplate on paste down, occasional light foxing, ink stain to p. 48.

The rare first book appearance of a biography of English eccentric and sportsman "Mad Jack," with lovely plates-- three of which were not included in subsequent editions.
