London: John C. Nimmo, 1890. Two volumes uniformly bound in green cloth with brown calf backstrip, coat of arms on upper boards and gilt lettering on spine, top edges gilt, dark green endpapers with gilt floral design; crown quarto. Leather has minor rubbing at ends of spines, there is a short (1/4") tear top of spine of volume 1, a nicely engraved bookplate of the singer and biographer Dorothy Moulton Mayer on verso of front free endpaper. Some pages are unopened in volume 2 along the fore edge. 520 copies printed for England, and 260 for America; this is copy no. 158. Pages: 371 and 379 (with index); with portrait and six original etchings by Adolphe Lalauze, and eleven subjects illustrating Italian comedy by Maurice Sand, engraved on copper by A. Manceau, and nicely coloured by hand. An attractive 2 volume set.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
