An undated, probable first Everyman's Library edition (1906), so indicated by lack of subsequent printings on the copyright page. Benvenuto Cellini was a 16th century Florentine artist, sculptor and goldsmith. The story of his life is so energetically told in this autobiography that it has become a treasured classic. Translated from the Italian by Thomas Roscoe. Entry 51 in Everyman's Library "Biography" series, edited by Ernest Rhys, who has supplied a prefatory note. --- In 'flatback' binding style 1, full ribbed grey cloth-covered boards with elaborate Reginald Knowles-designed gilt spine titling & decorations, blindstamped J. M. Dent vignette to front cover, brown topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page, endpapers & frontis. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A Good-only copy, with repaired tears to cloth at head of spine, repaired rear hinge and dulling to spine gilding, otherwise a stable, sturdy copy. ; 16mo (6 to 7 in. tall); 528 pages .
