About This Item
1677 1ed Memoirs Duke of Hamilton Scottish Thirty Years War Reformation Scotland
Gilbert Burnet was an important 17th-century Scottish historian whose works were highly influential and have remained important references into the 20th-century. His works focused primarily on the history events of the Reformation and the English Civil War; however, he also wrote a lesser-known work on the lives and memoires of the Dukes of Hamilton. James and William Hamilton were Scottish nobles who led successful campaigns during the Thirty Years' War.
This 1677 first edition includes an appendix containing notes on the succession of bishops and churchmen of the Church of Scotland, orders of monks and friars, and the state of Scotland prior to the Reformation.
