Boston: Phineas Stowe, 1856. Sixth Thousand. Double frontispiece, 64pp. Square twelvemo. Publisher's quarter cloth binding and illustrated boards. Lyrics and music. Boards and edges rubbed; lacking free, front endpaper; leaves toned; very good.
"[The] Temperance Ship is launched on a sparkling sea, and we trust she will have a pleasant voyage around Cape Horn and the globe, and by her sweet melodies, may she induce many to join her noble crew in their work of love and mercy." (Preface) The author, Phineas Stowe, was pastor of 1st Baptist Mariners' Church, Boston and dedicated this songster to another Temperance reformer, Captain Daniel Tracy. Stowe also published the Ocean Melodies, and Seamen's Companion. A Collection of Hymns and Music; for the Use of Bethels, Chaplains of the Navy, and Private Devotion of Mariners.
