About This Item

Huntington Woods, Michigan: Phantasia Press, 1985. First Edition. A unique offering here: MEDEA: HARLAN'S WORLD, the book, signed by Jack Williamson, Harlan Ellison, Robert Silverberg, Frank Herbert, Poul Anderson, Fred Pohl, Frank Kelly Freas, Thomas Disch, Theodore Sturgeon, Larry Niven, and Kate Wilhelm. The only author still living is Larry Niven. Limited to 475 copies, signed, numbered and slipcased. Fine, unread copy in d.j. In addition, the original announcement for the 10 week course at UCLA, 9which I attended)entitled, TEN TUESDAYS DOWN A RABBIT HOLE THE WORLD OF SCIENCE FICTION. The topic for the third week of the class was, "New Worlds for Sale: Building Novels Before Your Very Eye." Approximately 100 copies of the booklet, MEDEA HARLAN'S WORLD: Précis of Specifications for an Imaginery Planet (for the students who'd signed up for all ten weeks, paid in advance) was handed out. The classes were always so jam packed (you could buy individual tickets for each even for $2, if there was room) that I didn't want to fight the crowd to get Harlan's autograph; and besides he lived in LA, and I saw him pretty regularly at book signings, and readings. Through the years I managed to get every contributor to the world building project, EXCEPT Ellison, who later refused to sign. The subject headings are: HAL CLEMENT: Basic Concepts, Geology, Astrophysics; POUL ANDERSON: Geology, Meterology, Geography, Nomenclature, Biology; LARRY NIVEN: Biology, Ecology, Xenology; FRED POUL: Xenology, Sociology, Politics, Theology, Mathematics. EACH subject is signed by the contributor, four signatures.I know of no other copy signed by all contributors. A fine copy. TOTAL for book and package.
