A crisp, clean copy of the 1947 1st edition, later state (Younger & Hirsch 53d [4-line copyright notice, fish mouth closed on cover], no priority given to the variants). Clean and Near Fine in its blue-green boards, in a bright, Near Fine dustjacket price-clipped in front but price-intact ($2.50) at bottom of rear flap. Very light wear --and light creasing-- along the dj's panel edges but the jacket remains handsome and very presentable. Tall, thin quarto, Seuss's first book since 1940 -- the delay caused by his military service. Wonderfully illustrated in full, rich color plus evocative black-and-white. (Bader, pg. 308).
