Curling, Newfoundland: Barrett's Print Shop. Good. 1946. Flexible cloth. 119 p. 16.5 cm. A little loose in its flexible, cloth-covered boards. Rub worn to the edges, spine ends and corners. Corner tips softened. Some soil and ring marks to both boards. Inside there is a moisture stain to the top end of the gutters, which affects some of the pages, but none of the text. The front endpapers have tears and some paper missing. There is a previous owner's name and place on the front free endpaper. The pages have occasional light soil and are age-toned. A collection of poetry by Ena Constance Barrett (1893-1967), a British born woman who moved to Newfoundland when she married a Newfoundlander. This is her fourth volume of poetry and includes references to both her homeland and the island of Newfoundland. "Faith and the beauty of nature are common themes throughout, the collection also including several poems about the two World Wars." (from Memorial University of Newfoundland Digital Archive website. This copy previously belonged to a man with the surname Cull from Indian Islands, Fogo District. It is a scarce copy. .
