About This Item
Peregrine Smith Books, 1984. paperback. Very Good. 8x8x0. 1984 University of New Mexico Press (Albuquerque, New Mexico), 9 x 9 inches trade paperback in glossy color pictorial covers, copiously illustrated with black-and-white and color photographs, maps and line drawings, xii, 92 pp. Slight smoky odor. Very slight spoiling, rubbing and edgewear to covers. Labels to rear cover and title page by University of New Mexico Press, which evidently acquired the title from Peregrine Smith Books. Otherwise, apart from a couple of creased page tips, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. ~SP47~ [1.5P] Kooky, exotic, and incongruous to contemporary American life, the Mayan Revival style is the product of the playful pilferings of architectural and decorative elements of the Mayan and Aztec ruins and their incorporation into the contemporary environment. Mayan pyramids in New Orleans and in Glendale and Los Angeles ... Mayan-inspired churches ... silk ties with stylized Mayan stelae ... these are examples of the extent of the Mayan Revival style popular during the 1920s and 1930s.
