VG. Two extracts from Harper's New Monthly Magazine, Vol. 37, without wraps. Maximilian of Mexico Harper's New Monthly Magazin New York 1868 Vol. XXXVII 9 1/2 x 6", pp. 667-682, Maximilian was executed in June of 1867 in Queretaro. The first paper (16 pp.) by Abbott appeared a year later and is a concise,, readable account of the events leading up to the fateful day. The second title is a 5-page extract [pp.520-525] from the second volume of Draper's "The History of the American Civil War". It had just been published by Harper's and to promote it, they included this short extract in their monthly magazine.
