About This Item

Los Angeles: Fantasy Publishing Co. , 1952. Stated first edition COMPLETE WITH DUST JACKET. Collected in this book are the best articles ever written about the late Frederick Faust - better known as Max Brand. Personal glimpses of Faust the man, the writer, the poet are revealed from material by Carl Brandt, Faust's friend and literary agent, Dorothy Faust his widow, Leonard Bacon and other close the Faust. One of his publishers bares some mysterious secrets about Faust. A chapter deals with a very scholarly study of the history of western fiction, with particular attention paid to the position held by Max Brand. This special volume is particuarly valuable to collectors as a work of reference. Brown cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. 198 pages, slight foxing of page edges and very slight yellowing of pages. Some edge and shelf ear, light bumping of corners. Slight rubbing. Dust jacket is slightly yellowed on inside fold, moderate chipping and small tears, nonetheless bright and clean, with a wonderful picture of the face of Brand looming over a traditional western landscape complete with a mounted cowboy and, somewhat incongruously a 1950's style rocket ship blasting off from behind the mountain ranges. A real collector's treat!. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Illus. by Illustrated.
