London: Lawrence and Bullen, 1892. 1st English Edition. Green Silk. Very Good Minus/No Wrapper. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" Large. Chalon, Louis . Type: Z A two volume set of this limited edition, being no.881 out of 1000 published. First English translation with an introduction by Anatole de Montaiglon. Bound in green silk with gilt embossed vignette to the front boards and lettering to the spines. Illustrated with 15 b/w plates with tissue guards, including a frontispiece plate to volume I - all as called for. There is light rubbing to the board and spine edges and the cloth at the head and tail of the spine is lightly turned in. Two board corners are bumped to both volumes and there are a few light stain marks to the boards. One split to the outer hinge of volume I measuring 1 cm and one split to the outer hinge of volume II measuring 2 cm in length. Slight split to the inner hinges of Volume I, though the boards to both volumes remain firm and tight. There are no inscriptions and there are a couple of slight stain marks to pp ix of Volume I - otherwsie the textblocks are very clean and tight. Rough cut fore edges and several unopened pages. A very good copy of this two volume limited set.
