Inscribed by former Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces Moshe Dayan, the first edition of Masada by Yigael Yadin.. Quarto, 272pp. Tan cloth, title in gilt on spine. Solid text block, lightly bumped corners, a near fine example. In the publisher's dust jacket, 63s net retail price on front flap, faint shelf wear, a near fine example. Inscribed on the title page: "with deep appreciation and warm friendship. M. Dayan. 12.9.69." Additional inscription and signature by Dayan in Hebrew. Moshe Dayan served as the Israeli Defense Minister during the Six-Day War (1967), emerging on the world stage as the face of Israeli resistance to Arab forces in the Middle East.
