The First UK printing published by Transatlantic Arts in 1946.The BOOK is in near FINE condition.Small slim 8vo, 30 pages including endpapers which form part of the text.Original blue cloth lettered in red.Slight push to the lower spine end.Free from erasures,markings and inscriptions.The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition.A little rubbing at the lower spine end with a small nick to the upper front spine fold. Light soiling to the rear cover.The wraparound wrapper artwork looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover.Stunning lithograph illustrations by Suzanne Einzig throughout in the text with full-page and double-page plates in color and black and white. Einzig came to note as a book illustrator having illustrated the Carnegie Prize winning title "Tom's Midnight Garden'.A colleague of John Minton, she is regarded as one of the 20th Century's great book illustrators.A charming story in verse about a young girl in the care of her ten maiden aunts, who is returned to the loving care of her father by a kindly old boatman.A very scarce Einzig title and collectible with such attributes.
