Urbana: The University of Illinois Press, 1953. First Edition. Very Good/Very Good. First English language edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's paper-covered boards printed in black. Very Good with slight lean to binding, toning along top edge, bumping to edge and corners throughout, small tear at spine underneath title; pages lightly toned. Former owner's name on front free endpaper, title page and jacket front panel. Bookseller's ticket on front pastedown. In a Very Good unclipped dust jacket with light toning, edge wear, and large chip to front top corner; tear to center of spine panel.

A technical specification for a human expedition to Mars. Written in 1948, it was the first "technically comprehensive design" for such an expedition and has been described as "the most influential book on planning human missions to Mars". Scarce.
