Thomas Heywood (1570s - 1641) was a prominent English playwright, actor and author whose peak period of activity falls between late Elizabethan and early Jacobean theatre. The princess referred to here is the daughter of King James I who married Frederick V, Elector of the Palatinate in Germany. Eventually they became king and queen of Bohemia.
