George G Harrap and Co, 1947. Hardcover. Good. 1947. First Edition Thus. 1078 pages. Quarter bound blue leather with beige cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to spine. Contains black and white illustrated frontispiece with folded maps throughout. Gilt top text block edge. Marble endpapers and pastedowns. Pages remain bright and clear with mild tanning. Binding remains firm. Small tears and creases with occasional chips to edges of some pages. Text is clear and unaffected. Folded maps are bright and clear with minor creasing and occasional tearing. Faint black marks to fore edge of text block. Boards have slight edge wear with corner bumping. Mild tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Brown markings to both boards with faint scratches.
