About This Item

London: Gollancz, 2004 Book. Fine. Hardcover. First Edition. Hardcover UK, first printing and true first edition. (Published later in the US as a trade paperback and later as a Book Club hardcover as Richard K. Morgan.) True First Edition and first printing with the statement "First published in Great Britain in 2004 by Gollancz" on the copyright page without any other statements. Not a book club, remainder or ex-library copy. Light, handling-related bumping at head and heel of spine panel with some tiny chipping at lower tips (caused by shelving), else a fine (unread) copy in fine jacket without tears and price intact. Morgan's third novel, SF noir by the author of Altered Carbon (2002) and Broken Angels (2003). Think a Mickey Spillane anti-hero set in Mad Max universe. Originally a short story, it was developed into a movie script before becoming the present novel..

Synopsis

Market Forces is a science fiction novel by Richard Morgan, first published in 2004. Set in 2049 in the wake of a global economic downturn called the Domino Recessions, it follows up-and-coming executive Chris as he plunges into the profitable field of Conflict Investment. Major corporations invest in rebel armies, totalitarian dictatorships, freedom fighters, and terrorists by selling weapons and services in exchange for a percentage of a state's GNP.
