Illustrator: Various. includes a chronological table the events, a postface (in which the author "in the case of Marie Antoinette it seems to me that it would be more appropriate to mention which sources have not been utilised and why. Even those documents which are as a rule most trustworthy, namely autograph letters, are here unreliable. As has been more than once pointed out in the foregoing pages, Marie Antoinette, being of an impatient disposition, was a careless letter writer." -- Page 593. Translated by Eden and Cedar Paul. Bound in a decorated cloth, blind stamped titling gilt filled, top edge of text block tinted pale red. Illustrated dustwrapper (same illustration as the underlying boards) with green coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. A study of Marie Antoinette. Bumping and rubbing of the book corners with softening and rubbing of the back strip edges. Light age toning and foxing of the text block edges and scattered foxing throughout the pages with more concentrated foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book stop a little sunning to the back strip. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and top back strip edge. Sunning of the back strip with light foxing to the fold over panels and heavier foxing to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
