About This Item

New York: United Labor and People's Committee for May Day, 1952. A pamphlet preceding May Day activities for 1952, which highlights the history of the holiday and the struggle for Negro rights, labor organizing, and peace. The United Labor and People's Committee for May Day was a Communist front organization that adopted a variety of names for organizing May Day events from 1935-1953. It was forced to dissolve in 1953 when the Attorney General required that it register as a Communist Front group.

Stapled wrappers (8 " x 5 ½") with Hugo Gellert illustration to front wrapper, 14 p., six photographs. An about Fine copy. Five copies in OCLC, although we note a handful of copies in other university special collections.
