About This Item

New York: William Sloane Associates, 1951. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. Presentation copy, inscribed and dated in the year of publication by Edward Newhouse to Daise E. Terry, the editorial office manager of The New Yorker, on the front flyleaf. A collection of short stories by the Hungarian-born writer who worked for almost thirty years on the staff of The New Yorker. Octavo: 384 p. Original blue cloth-covered boards over a black cloth spine, with gilt titles. Faint spotting to the top edge, with some light bumping to the corners and tips. The dust jacket is a trifle edgeworn and toned; otherwise very good.
