Simon Laat's name in ink by contemporary hand on front panel and inner rear panel, also in text. [116] p. Collection of early 18th-century manuscript recipes for wine fining.
Including 71 numbered and some thirty unnumbered recipes for fining, clarifying, and stabilizing wines, a few recipes for beer, other drinks, and wine-based remedies, a list of wine merchant tools, and an index to the first 53 recipes. Also contains a drawing of the coat of arms of Amsterdam and a few other small doodles.
Simon Laats was a wine merchant from Rhenen, The Netherlands, born around 1700, married in 1714, and died before 1771.
