About This Item
Small thick 8vo, original cloth with gilt illustration on covers and gilt lettering on spine, richly illustrated, 630 pp. Binding worn and chipped at spine and piece of backstrip a little loose, but firmly attached, hinges weak, a few signatures partially sprung, normal aging. Plates and maps are generally in very good condition, a few have a bit of offset, one folding map with some folds and small tears in the margins, slight foxing hear and there, but a really nice collection of plates. Complete. This volume is particularly rich in illustrations. The contents include three folding maps, six folding plates, and about 20 single page illustrations. Of particular interest is the folding map of the city, two folding illustrations of The Five Points, a folding plan of a floating battery, and a plan of Central Park. Lawrence p. 23-24.
