Port Washington, NY: Ira J. Friedman, Inc., 1966. Hardcover, blue cloth lettered in silver on spine, no dust-jacket as issued. 318 pages. Illustrated with 75 photographs. Reprint edition. Eberlein was an author and antiquarian who authored numerous books on china, furniture and architecture. Regarding the latter. his range extended from the" Villas of Florence and Tuscany" to "Historic Houses of George-Town and Washington City", with titles on the Mid-Hudon Valley, Delaware, Georgian and Colonial architecture, et alia. The present volume contains the history of those manorial and other ancient homes located on both Long Island and Staten Island, that where still extant in 1928. In addition to a full discussion of their architectural qualities, construction and history, Eberlein provides biographical and genealogical notes upon the personages who built or occupied them Blue cloth covers are clean and square with no wear. Interior is unmarked, with no writing, underlining or high-lighting. No previous ownership marks or book-plate. A very nice copy of an uncommon title, and one often found in lesser condition. Fine. .
